Dress correctly warm water proof clothing and avoid bright colours

Prepare the night before

charge your batteries, the last thing you want is a non functioning camera or it shutting down mid image capture

The best camera you need is the one you have, if you are fortunate to have a DSLR a zoom or telephoto lens is preferable

travel as light as you can as you will be walking across countryside and always let some know where you are in case of emergency

set your iso to auto and a nice fast shutter speed will be required
